Sophie Banke
Phosphate Recovery

Email: Sophie.Banke@wetsus.nl

Sophie is a chemist from Germany focused on hydrochemistry and analytical chemistry with an interest in environmental studies.

During her Franco German bachelor studies in Freiburg and Mulhouse, Sophie became interested in inorganic chemistry and phosphate detection. She further developed her chemical education in a master program at Dresden Technical University. During her studies, she worked in battery research at the Fraunhofer institute for material and beam technology (IWS). Finally, she specialized in hydrochemistry investigating benzophenone-type UV filters, a group of trace organic contaminants. Now she is happy to be working with phosphorus again. In the RecaP project, she will be examining transformation of phosphorus precipitates in manure to vivianite for recovery.
