Collaborations and Network

Being a part of both Odense University Hospital and the University of Southern Denmark provide us with opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations across hospitals and universities, nationally and abroad.

Examples of current collaborations are mentioned below

  • Our honorary professor Hisham Mehanna PhD, BMedSc, MBChB, FRCS, FRCS (ORL-HNS) from Birmingham has enabled ud to carry our collaboration within the field of head and neck cancer research.
  • Professor Anette D. Kjeldsen is chair of the ERN European Reference Network VASCERN.She participates in the Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT-WG) – VASCERN and collaborates on establishing clinical guidelines, research, and education with other VASCERN members and is a member of Cure HHT Advisory Board. She is also a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Rhinology, and has contributed to EPOS 2020: The European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps.
  • The Technical Audiology Section collaborates with the Technical University of Denmark (Prof. Torsten Dau), Macquarie University, Australia (Prof. Harvey Dillon), Oldenburg University, Germany (Prof. Stefan Debener), Boston University, USA (Prof. Virginia Best), Technische Hochschule Lübeck, Germany (Prof. Tim Jürgens), and Deutsches Hörgeräte Institut, Lübeck, Germany (Dr. Hendrik Husstedt). The collaborations are in the context of ongoing PhD and post-doc projects within hearing diagnostics and hearing-aid treatment. Many of these projects also involve partners from the Danish hearing industry.
  • We collaborate with Professor Vincent van der Poorten, Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the University Hospitals Leuven, regarding salivary gland carcinoma.
  • Professor Christian Godballe has initiated and is heading the Danish National Thyroid Cancer Database (DATHYRCA). The collaboration includes colleagues from many disciplines and from all of university hospitals in Denmark.
  •  Jes Slot Mathiesen is heading the Danish National Database for MEN2 that was created on his initiative. This project is a cross disciplinary project involving colleagues from several university hospitals in Denmark.
