  European researchers will conduct the largest trial ever in liver disease

  Liver diseases account for 300,000 deaths in Europe each year. With support from the Innovative Health Initiative, a collaboration of researchers, biotechnology companies and the pharmaceutical industry aim to improve the lives and health of people with hidden liver disease by conducting the largest study ever on early detection of liver damage.

  Validation of new disease definition for patients with liver disease: FLASH study published in Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology

  FLASH has recently had a study published in the fine journal Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology which tests the new disease definition for patients with fatty liver.

  The Albumin study (ALB-TRIAL) is starting.

  We are excited to announce that we are about to start a new research project. ALB-TRIAL is a new international study which is part of the MICROB-PREDICT EU Horizon2020 consortium. This study is a collaboration of 7 countries compassing 12 hospitals. The hospitals will participate in the study by recruiting patients from the respective countries and ensuring that the study includes a total of 240 patients with cirrhosis and ascites. The aim is to investigate whether a new biomarker can be used to predict which patients with cirrhosis and ascites, who will benefit most from regular human albumin infusions.

  FLASH focuses on stigmatization.

  13 participants have been part of our reading and writing workshops. They have read texts from well-known Danish authors and then written their own texts based on the day's topic. The result is 13 fine texts. The purpose was to have stories told by ordinary people at risk of liver disease.

Taking place from June 21 to June 24 in Vienna, Austria, this congress attracts thousands of specialists who come together to exchange knowledge and explore the latest research and development in hepatology - All with the same goal to improve patient care and community outcomes.

  Blood test can predict future liver disease

  Researchers from Center for Liver Research have developed a new blood-based algorithm, the ALPACA score, that can accurately predict which patients will be hospitalized with liver disease within the next five years.

  New publication: ATLAS researchers discover new biomarker for NASH

  ATLAS researchers have found that the protein TREM2 in blood is a plausible and accurate individual biomarker of NASH. Thus the new discovery has the potential to reduce the need for liver biopsy in the future.
