ADIPOSIGN partner and UCPH researcher Zach Gerhart-Hines from the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research receives the prestigious 61st EASD Minkowski Prize for his excellent research contributing to the advancement of knowledge concerning diabetes mellitus.
Associate Professor and ADIPOSIGN partner Zachary Gerhart-Hines is being recognised internationally – he has been awarded the 2026 Minkowski Prize by the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) for his outstanding contributions to diabetes research.
The prize honours exceptional early-career scientists and includes a lecture at the EASD Annual Meeting, where Prof. Gerhart-Hines will present his work in October 2026 in Milan.
His research has transformed our understanding of adipose tissue biology and its role in energy homeostasis, obesity, and type 2 diabetes, including the discovery of a novel fat–brain signalling axis with promising therapeutic potential.
