Graduate Programme in Public Health

Parkour

The Graduate Programme in Public Health covers research within a wide range of research areas in the field of public health, fx general practice, ageing, occupational medicine, bio statistics, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, environmental medicine, register-based research, forensic medicine, social medicine, health promotion, toxicology along with other related areas.

The main tasks of the graduate programme are:
  • To ensure the presence of a regional appropriate graduate programme within the research area. The regional programme should be coordinated nationally to secure a broad range of courses on a national basis.
  • To provide contact between the PhD students associated with the graduate programme and a highly qualified tutor group.
  • To promote networking among PhD students associated with the graduate programme and establish contact with international research networks.
  • To attract funding for co-financed PhD programmes.
  • To cooperate with the Faculty of Health Sciences to provide as good conditions as possible for the PhD students associated with the graduate programme.

The Graduate Programme in  Public Health offers a great variety of courses and activities.

The courses are open to all PhD students, regardless of which university they are enrolled at. Students enrolled at other universities than the University of Southern Denmark pay course fees in accordance with the standard agreement between the relevant universities.

The courses also function as a meeting place for supervisors and researchers in Public Health and are therefore open to everyone in this field, and not only PhD students. Other interested persons can participate after agreement with the programme director (se the section "Contact" below). We are continually establishing new courses, so if you have an idea for a new course, please contact the programme director.

See the courses we offer as well as all other PhD courses here.

The Graduate programme in Public Health covers many research units - Some of the units have Scientific Clubs. Some of them are below:

Social Studies in Medicine - Methodology Club

The Methodology Club works as a networking and discussion forum for researchers and PhD students applying qualitative methods and/or a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods in their projects.

The Methodology Club meets 4 times each semester. Every meeting will have a special focus on specific themes connected to relevant methodical and analytical issues.

The themes of the meetings are based on suggestions of the participants. A senior researcher is present at each meeting. The discussions at the meetings may take departure in a published text or be based on the participants’ own material – i.e. sound clips from interviews, transcriptions etc. We encourage participants to engage in and initiate discussions at the meetings.

The Methodology Club is for PhD students as well as for their supervisors and other interested researchers.

Participants must sign up for each meeting by email to: Lisbeth Rosenbek Minet, Post doc at the University of Southern Denmark, Lisbeth.minet@rsyd.dk

NB! No ECTS-points are given for the participation in the Methodology Club.
