Together with Salvador Pons Bordería (University of Valencia, Spain), Kerstin Fischer is organizing a panel on models of discourse units and interactional construction grammar at The 15th International Pragmatics Conference (IPrA 2017) in Belfast (Northern Ireland).

In this panel, Salvador Pons Bordería and Kerstin Fischer present the talk Using discourse segmentation to define grammatical constructions for discourse markers: The Case of ‘well’.

In the same panel, Maria Alm and Kerstin Fischer present the talk Using a systematic discourse segmentation model for a construction grammatical description of discourse particle functions.

Maria Alm is researching the possibilities for editing a special issue with some the participants in panel Anchoring Utterances in Co(n)text, Argumentation, Common Ground at the 14th International Pragmatics Conference (IPrA 2015) in Antwerp (Belgium).

December 2016

Anna Filipi visits the VELUX project in order to develop a construction grammatical representation of questions in a grammar of spoken interaction.

With the help of our former student Janni Jensen, Maria Alm and Kerstin Fischer run first pilot experiments on The teaching of German modal particles in collaboration with the Business College Syd, Sonderborg.

November 2016-January 2017

Kerstin Fischer, Maria Alm and research assistant  Janni Jensen begin testing the Applicability of a construction grammatical model of modal particles to second language teaching of German in co-operation with Business College Syd in Sonderborg and University College Zealand in Roskilde.

Kerstin Fischer and Elizabeth Traugott (Stanford University, US) present the talk Inferential processes in a clause-final use of 'already' at the conference Inferences in Interaction and Language Change at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS).

Kerstin Fischer starts a collaboration with Elizabeth Traugott (Stanford University, US) on the possibility that English utterance-final adverbs are in the process of acquiring similar functions as those proposed for German modal particles by Gabriele Diewald and Kerstin Fischer.

Salvador Pons Bordería (University of Valencia, Spain) visits the project group at SDU Sønderborg to discuss the Interaction between discourse segmentation and a construction grammatical representation of spoken language, with a special focus on discourse particles and their role in segmenting different kinds of discourse units.
