Mission, Vision and Values

Our foundation

The Protein Research Group is built on a foundation of research excellence and sharing of values and resources. The Protein Research Group leverages the group members’ ability to perform research, education, collaboration, and dissemination based on a modern mass spectrometry-based laboratory infrastructure. The versatility and robustness of the Protein Research Group’s activities are grounded in diversified research programmes, shared administrative and economic resources, efficient communication and open exchange of know-how. The Protein Research Group is directed collectively by the principal investigators in close collaboration with our technical and administrative staff to create a strong research community around our shared infrastructure. This non-hierarchical leadership of the Protein Research Group promotes a stimulating research and teaching environment and ensures efficient use of instrumentation and laboratory facilities. We believe that collective leadership nurtures a common interest in the performance and development of the Protein Research Group. The Principal Investigators in the Protein Research Group pursue independent research programmes within the framework of our shared mission, vision and values as stated below.

Mission

We align our individual and joint actions and decisions with the daily operation and further development of the activities of the Protein Research Group.

We ensure premium lab facilities, a productive working environment, research collaborations, and a stable economy.

This enables us to:

  • perform research that is internationally acknowledged and respected.
  • educate students and train the next generation of scientists to the highest international level within the group’s expertise.
  • contribute to the study programmes of our department/faculty at both basic and advanced levels.
  • collaborate with companies, health sector, educational institutions, and other research groups.
  • develop mass spectrometry-related technologies and associated computational methods to investigate chemical, biological and pathological processes.
  • apply our technological platform to contribute to the elucidation of molecular mechanisms that govern life and to the understanding of disease mechanisms.
  • make the Protein Research Group an attractive workplace for employees, students and visiting scientists from Denmark and abroad.
  • nurture collaboration and team spirit through a variety of scientific and social activities.
  • establish an international network by making the Protein Research Group an attractive host and making our group members welcomed guests in our outside collaborations.

Vision

We aim at maintaining and expanding our world-class bioanalytical laboratory with a focus on mass spectrometry, where research, training and education are performed in modern laboratory facilities. We always strive to establish mass spectrometry technology and allied instrumentation to stay at the technological forefront. We develop and implement new bioanalytical and computational methods that expand our laboratory capabilities beyond the newest mass spectrometry instrumentation.

We apply our advanced bioanalytical capabilities to challenging chemical, biological and biomedical projects. We publish our scientific results and conclusions in recognised international journals. We promote our scientific activities on relevant social media and at national and international conferences.

In our recruitment, we prioritise scientific excellence in combination with commitment to the values and group organisation stated in this document.
