About OPEN

About OPEN

The OPEN Research Unit is part of the Department of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark, with Professor Katrine Hass Rubin as Head of Research.

OPEN is a dynamic and interdisciplinary research unit consisting of researchers with different professional backgrounds, specialties, and methodological approaches to the use of data. This academic breadth is one of our strengths and is reflected in the organisation of our research.

Research groups

OPEN is organised into three research groups, which together form the foundation of our research activities:

  • Epidemiology

  • Patient safety and quality

  • User involvement

The research groups conduct internationally recognised research and contribute new knowledge to benefit patients, citizens, and the healthcare system. You can read more about the individual groups and their research areas under the Research Areas tab.

Mission

We specialise in generic methodology research and the use of data to improve the health of patients and citizens  across specialties and sectors.

Vision

We strive to accelerate research and create knowledge that creates value for patients and citizens.

Our approach

At OPEN, we work to:

  • create and apply knowledge that makes a difference
  • strengthen national and international collaboration and partnerships
  • develop attractive career paths for researchers
  • create synergy between research and research support

Research environment and collaboration

The research unit’s staff include professors, associate professors, postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and other students. Read more about OPEN's researchers

Our close collaboration with OPEN’s Research Support Unit provides  easy access to research support, facilities and expertise throughout the research process  — from idea to scientific publication.
