The aim of this study is to investigate the association of previous conditions or diseases (determined using the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10 code)) and osteoporotic fractures in the Danish population with the aim of ultimately developing tools for identifying and treating persons at high risk of sustaining their first major osteoporotic fracture.

Short Summary
ROSE is a randomised population-based study, including 20,904 Danish women aged 65-81 years, investigating the effectiveness of a two-step screening programme for osteoporosis, using a questionnaire based on FRAX® followed by DXA-scan. Further, the study is expected to provide knowledge about cost-effectiveness, patient preferences of screening programme to prevent fractures.
Short Summary
Complaints and compensation claims inform about health care quality from the user's (patient) perspective. Hence, they can be viewed as an indicator of dissatisfaction and shortcomings in health care provision and can inform initiatives to improve health care quality and patient safety. Analysing compensation claims and complaints systematically for health care improvement, is a constructive use of this information.
Short Summary
This PhD examines the communicative and relational processes in consultations in outpatients' clinics at Odense University Hospital (OUH). The main aim is to investigate the opportunities, prerequisites and motivators for patient engagement through patient feedback and ultimately the phenomenon of patient feedback. The research questions are exploratory and the research is qualitative and uses ethnographic methods and has a participatory approach.

A cohort study of young Danish men examining the association between parental mental health and cognitive test scores at the Danish Defence Day. The project investigates both the importance of the timing of parental mental health problems and how associations are influenced by other adversities during childhood.

A Danish register-based project examining whether trauma and injuries during pregnancy are associated with an increased risk of neurodevelopmental disorders in the child, including cerebral palsy. The project also investigates risk factors for injuries during pregnancy and potential biological mechanisms in animal models.
Short Summary
Osteoporosis is a growing challenge in an ageing population and increases the risk of fractures, with substantial health-related and socioeconomic consequences. This project will examine the epidemiology of osteoporosis and related fractures in the Danish population, including fracture risk, detection, prevention, and clinical and socioeconomic consequences, to provide a broader understanding of its impact from the individual level to society as a whole.
About the project
With demographic changes, increasing health care dependency ratios, and rising prevalence of comorbidities, innovative approaches are urgently needed to sustain equitable and high-quality care.
To address these critical challenges in osteoporosis care for the elderly, CHOICE will implement the fully automated clinical decision support system, FREM_ML, to predict imminent fracture risk.
