Seafarers work and live under unique conditions that may affect their health throughout their working lives. The project uses extensive Danish register data to investigate patterns of disease among seafarers and compare their health with that of other groups in the working population.
MHT’s contribution
In collaboration with the Department of Public Health at SDU, MHT conducts register-based analyses of seafarers’ health, with particular attention to cardiovascular disease, hospitalisation, and mortality.
The research provides a robust, population-based evidence base on health risks among seafarers, which can support more targeted preventive initiatives and contribute to longer and healthier working lives at sea.
