Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity

Successfully completed two co-design workshops

Over 60 women joined two dynamic VILPA WISE workshops at SDU to help shape an innovative app that encourages short bursts of vigorous activity in daily life.

As part of the Vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity: Women Integrating Short Intense Movement Efforts (𝐕𝐈𝐋𝐏𝐀 𝐖𝐈𝐒𝐄) project at DRIVEN, University of Southern Denmark, we have now completed two co-design workshops aimed at developing an app to help physically inactive women (aged 40-65) integrate short bursts of intense activity into daily life.

Over two co-design workshops on May 13 and June 10, 2025, 40+22 committed women joined us to share their experiences, needs, and ideas. Their input has been vital in shaping an app prototype designed to fit real lives-and everyday activities. We are grateful for the positive energy, honest feedback, and creativity participants brought to both workshops.

Evidence shows that just 9-10 bouts of vigorous activity upto 1 minute per day can offer cardioprotective benefits. Our goal is to translate this evidence into action-through practical, supportive tools co-designed with the very women who will use them.

Thankful to our collaborators at Syddansk Sundhedsinnovation for wonderful coordination, excellent facilitation and Citizen Science, SDU for recruitment of the participants.
