Musculoskeletal research

Our research in the musculoskeletal system is directed at hip and knee osteoarthritis, as well as osteoarthritis in other joints. We seek to uncover genetic and environmental factors for the development of these diseases.

Osteoarthritis is the most common joint disease in the Western world. Our research is based on nationwide twin data obtained from several Danish health registers and surveys.

We constantly develop and implement new research areas including arthrosis in joints that have not previously been elucidated in terms of genetic and environmental components, but also the new research fields such as Epigenetics
