Niccolo’ is a multidisciplinary ocean expert holding a MSc. in Maritime Spatial Planning. His work and research focuses mainly on marine policy, ocean literacy, and ocean monitoring. For several years he has been working in planning and management of marine and coastal areas, and sustainable blue economy development through the involvement in EU funded projects, international consultancies and technical support to national authorities. He also organized several events, trainings and workshops on marine centered topics targeting different stakeholders, institutions, students, and practitioners. In his former position he was an Associate Expert at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) working in the Global Environment Monitoring System for the Ocean and Coasts (GEMS Ocean) Programme focusing on integrating observing systems to support policy making to conserve, restore and properly manage coastal and marine ecosystems. He is currently a Science Officer at the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC) coordinating the UN Ocean Decade Vision 2030 process.

He enjoys everything marine-related such as scuba diving, sailing and swimming.
