Regulation of Metabolism by Post-Translational Modifications

Our research aims to uncover how post-translational modifications (PTMs) dynamically regulate metabolic pathways in health and disease. Using state-of-the-art phosphoproteomics and lipidomics, we identify regulatory phosphorylation events and other PTMs that act as metabolic switches in key tissues and cells. We are particularly interested in how site-specific modifications reprogram cellular functions incl. metabolic pathways and substrate utilization. By integrating quantitative mass spectrometry with functional studies, we seek to define causal signalling mechanisms rather than descriptive correlations. Ultimately, we aim to reveal novel drugable nodes that fine-tune systemic metabolism.
