• Is it necessary to take a master’s degree?

  Traditionally, it was almost automatic to go from a bachelor’s degree to a master’s degree, but things are different now.  Today, there are thousands of paths to a good academic career. So the most important thing is that you assimilate what you have learned during your education and focus on what you would like to learn next. 
  
  So start a master’s programme if you really want to learn what the master’s programme gives you the opportunity to learn. If instead you want to test yourself on the job market after your bachelor’s degree, that is also a good way to go. It helps you clarify what you already can and can’t do. You can always return to us and take a master’s degree or further education at a later date. 
  
  The most important thing is that you make a choice that makes sense for you.

• Is it a good idea to commute to my master’s degree?

  At university, you decide many things yourself. Including whether you want to move to your city of study. But there are plenty of good reasons to live in the city where you’re studying, even if right now a commuter life seems more attractive than moving. Studying also gives you the opportunity to seize new opportunities – to take a local, relevant student job, to create networks in your study city, to get involved in associations and committees at your university and much more.
  
  Commuting is not without costs. We know that students who choose to live far away from their study city find it difficult to maintain their attachment to daily student life. Commuter life requires strict prioritisation, and the time you spend on transport, you don’t have to relax, have fun with your friends or perhaps for fun leisure activities.
  
  Some students commute for a period, but in the long term it wears them down. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to get your hands on student accommodation in SDU’s study cities.
