- To update and expand the unique and internationally competitive infrastructure for bioanalytical sciences at SDU.
- To apply this research infrastructure in fundamental, front-line biological research based on accurate and sensitive characterization and quantification of organic molecules, nucleic acids, lipids and proteins isolated from microbes, eukaryote cells and tissues.
- To integrate the bioanalytical research platform and mathematics/computer science research and expertise to develop novel tools for data handling and modelling of complex biological processes and biomolecular networks.
- To address key questions in biology, from the activation of individual protein molecules to the complex interactions and spatio-temporal organization of biomolecules in living cells.
