About the TopQC2X project

Focusing on topological quantum computation (TQC), the project leverages the unique strengths of the Centre of Quantum Mathematics (QM) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) and the Quantum Physics and Information Technology (QPIT) group at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU).

QM will develop and apply new topological tools for quantum computation including:

  1. surface codes tailored for the photonic platform via GKP states, and
  2. topological quantum field theories (TQFTs) based on the Andersen-Kashaev TQFT.

The physical implementation, led by QPIT at DTU, focuses on realizing such schemes on photonic platforms for enhanced error correction in the setting of continuous variable quantum computation (CVQC). An integral component of TopQC2X is the development of quantum algorithms and software tailored to TQC, enabling the utilization of TQFT language for algorithm design.

Further, TopQC2X will grow applications across green energy, financial services, climate modeling, and signal processing/compressed sensing with industry and research leaders such as Ørsted, Jyske Bank, DMI and AAU. Quantum algorithms are developed to address industry-specific challenges, offering solutions that exploit the power of TQC across different industry sectors.
