Rasmus Glenthøj is a professor of history at the University of Southern Denmark and one of Denmark's leading experts in Nordic and European history from 1750 to 1914. With a focus on nationalism, war, democratization, and the use of history, his publications and outreach have had a significant impact on the understanding of Scandinavia's political development in the 19th century.
He has received numerous honors, including the Nordic History Book Prize, the H.O. Lange Prize, the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, and an EliteForsk scholarship, and he has been nominated twice for Historical Book of the Year. His works on the 1864 war and political Scandinavianism are considered seminal and essential contributions to international research.
In addition to his research, he is an active communicator with over 400 media appearances and a strong presence in public debates on history and national identity. His current projects examine war and geopolitics in the Nordic region, Denmark's role in the international system, and the relationship between nationalism and realism in international politics and history.
