Niels Bjerre-Poulsen holds a Ph.D. in American History from University of California, Santa Barbara (1993), and is an Associate Professor at the Center for American Studies/Department of Culture and Language at SDU (2010-). He has previously been an Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School (1988-2010), the Director of its Center for American Studies, and President of the Nordic Association for American Studies. In 2019 he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Marist College and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum.
His major fields of research are American political culture, the American presidency, and American foreign relations. His publications include books and articles on American Conservatism, the American Presidency, as well as an international history of the Vietnam War. Since 1998, he has been a widely used by Danish media as an analyst and commentator of American politics.
