MHT’s research within the platform encompasses three main areas.
Motion sickness in the offshore industry
MHT investigates the impact of motion sickness on safety, well-being, and work ability among workers in the offshore industry. The research aims to improve understanding of the physical, occupational, and organisational implications of motion sickness and how workers manage it in their everyday work.
Energy consumption and energy management
MHT investigates energy consumption and energy management on smaller offshore vessels and the organisational and operational conditions that influence opportunities to reduce energy consumption. The research contributes knowledge about how the green transition is translated into practice in everyday maritime operations.
Energy Hubs and maritime infrastructure
MHT also contributes to risk analyses of maritime infrastructure associated with the development of Energy Hubs. The focus is on identifying and understanding new risks that may arise as energy infrastructure and maritime activities are developed and increasingly integrated.
Overall, MHT’s research within the SDU Maritime Research Platform contributes knowledge about how the green and technological transition affects people, operations, health, and safety in the maritime sector.
