Internationalisation in focus and a new PhD prize at this spring’s department forum
The theme of this spring’s department forum was internationalisation and included a talk by Mirco Reimer-Elster. In addition, for the first time, we named the IRS PhD Student of the Year, an honour that went to Alexandru Diaconu.

Mikkel Højlund receives European psychiatry research award
Associate Professor Mikkel Højlund from the Department of Regional Health Research and Hospital Sønderjylland has received the EPA Next Generation Psychiatrist Award in the category of pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. The award is presented by the European Psychiatric Association (EPA).

Kathrine Skak Madsen appointed clinical associate professor in paediatric neuroradi-ology
Kathrine Skak Madsen is based at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Reso-nance (DRCMR) at Hvidovre Hospital, where she leads the Brain Maturation research group. She is the first IRS employee to be based at Hvidovre Hospital.

Helene Skjøt-Arkil appointed professor of responsible antibiotic use in the emergency department at SDU
The professorship aims to strengthen patient-centered research in diagnostics and targeted antibiotic treatment in the emergency department. The goal is faster and more precise treatment, fewer side effects and reduced antibiotic resistance.
