Technologies of Automation and Communities

Big data, technologies of surveillance, drones, and predictive algorithms shape and impact our self-understanding as human subjects and communities.

We analyze aesthetic representations of technology in visual art and literature, and we engage with theories on technology and communities.

This research adheres to a contextualist approach to technology studies, which emphasizes that technology is not just some device of hardware or software, but embedded in culture, discourses of power, and society.
