Interview
Technology is not just a tool – it makes our world
As part of an interview series titled "CULTURE CONNECTS – conversation starters about culture" Danish Cultural Institute asked Professor Kathrin Maurer: Why is culture important today?
In the interview, Kathrin Maurer explains how art and culture help us step outside our comfort zones, echo chambers, and “personalized Netflix streams.” Art, she argues, can open up new ways of seeing the world—spaces that embrace uncertainty, nuance, and mental resilience.
She reminds us that technologies such as AI and facial recognition often mirror the flaws inherent in the people who created them. In the video below, she provides examples of how these biases manifest.
