Research focus

Our research focuses on neuro-urology, the lower urinary tract and erectile dysfunction as well as on prostate disease. We study how diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system affect the urinary function. We use animal models of human disease, apply electrostimulation and conduct sensory neural recording. During three decades of research we have adopted, modified and developed number of animal models of prostate disease, bladder outflow obstruction, bladder inflammation, neurogenic bladder and erectile dysfunction. We used these models to elucidate pathomechanisms of the diseases and test potential new therapies.
