Merete Hvid

Project manager
VandCenter Syd

Merete is the project manager for the EU project ARCADIA at VandCenter Syd. Through her work she wants to contribute to creating a future where all stakeholders involved understand each other better to strengthen the cooperation and  create sustainable solutions for our planet. As a physical geographer with a specialization in hydrology, Merete has worked with water in many different ways throughout her career, so ARCADIA satisfies her thirst for water-related projects.

WHY ARCADIA?

I want to contribute to creating a future where we understand each other better and work together to create sustainable solutions for our planet. I hope that through ARCADIA, we can develop a common language across organizations, so we have the same mental image when we talk about 'nature-based solutions' and 'climate adaptation.' This is an important conversation, and fortunately, it is already underway in the project.
The foundation for broad, joint solutions across many organizations is that we understand each other when we communicate. With a shared language in ARCADIA, we can help develop the bold solutions that the complex problems we face require.

AHY IS ARCADIA AN INTERESTING PROJECT TO BE A PART OF FOR VANDCENTER SYD?

At VandCenter Syd, we work with large parts of the entire water cycle, and as a utility company, we play a crucial role in running a city. We provide drinking water from the tap, and we treat the used water before releasing it back into nature. When it rains, it's often us who ensure that rainwater is managed appropriately. We are constantly working to improve, optimize, make things more sustainable, and more cost-effective. We want to contribute to a better city, clean waterways, and a clean fjord. We hope that ARCADIA can help us with that.
