Katrine Holtz Thorhauge has been part of the research team since 2014 and has a particular academic interest in alcohol-related liver disease and alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. In 2025, she completed her PhD project, “Biomarkers and patient characteristics to predict changes in alcohol-related liver disease over time”, which focused on biomarkers to optimise disease monitoring. The project was partly funded through the EU collaboration “Microb-Predict”.
In her day-to-day role, Katrine is employed both in the research group and as a doctor in specialist training at the Department of Medical Gastroenterology, Odense University Hospital, where she combines clinically oriented research with clinical practice.
