Expectations

General lab culture

  • We speak in a positive language.
  • We identify solutions instead of complaints.
  • Ask whenever in doubt. It is always okay to ask.
  • Everyone makes mistakes. Please speak about them.
  • Clean up after yourself.
  • Respect lab safety rules.
  • We don’t compete. We collaborate. We help each other.
  • Weekly group meeting is mandatory (unless you have courses etc.).
  • Working hours should primarily be weekdays somewhere between 7.30-17.00.
  • Keep a thorough lab book (see this guide). Update databases.
  • Independency:
    • Generate ideas
    • Interpret results
    • Design new experiments
    • Be curious

Of course, this will always be in collaboration with your supervisor. New and younger students will of course need more help – however, we expect that everyone puts some effort into independently running their own project. All students will be connected to a main daily supervisor.
