Practical information

Odense is situated on the island Funen in the middle of Denmark. 

The nearest airport is Copenhagen Airport. Direct trains leave from Copenhagen Airport to Odense hourly  and the duration of the trip is approx. 1 hour 45 min. More information about public transport in Denmark can be found on Rejseplanen.

Tickets for the train can be bought online at DSB or at all stations. 

We want to make your visit as effortless as possible, so we’ve secured a range of hotels across different price categories to fit any budget.
Catering will be provided throughout the congress and is included in the registration fee.
The certificate will be sent to you after the congress.

The Congress Dinner takes place at ODEON, Denmark’s biggest music venue outside the capital, providing a modern space for concerts, theatre productions, conferences and other cultural events.

How to get to the university by car:
Follow Google Maps for the address: Fioniavej 34, 5230 Odense M

How to get to SDU by public transport:

  • Take the tram/Odense Letbane from Odense train station towards Hjallese Station (don´t forget to download your ticket! ).
  • Get off the tram at the 2nd stop at the university, the stop is called SDU University.
  • At the tram stop take the stairs to first floor to get to the reception desk.

For the reception on Wednesday evening, please use tram stop Campus Odense.

For the congress, please use tram stop SDU University.


The official currency in Denmark is the Danish krone, abbreviated as DKK and symbolized by kr. The word "krone" means "crown" in Danish.
Credit and debit cards are widely accepted and are the main payment method in Denmmark. Some places may require contactless payments or mobile wallets.

There will be no simultaneous translation.
The use of tobacco products (smoking tobacco and vaping) is not permitted indoors on SDU’s premises. Smoking and vaping are restricted to the outdoor smoking sheds. Waste from outdoor smoking and tobacco use must be placed in ashtrays or rubbish bins.

If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa for Denmark (DK), a business visa application can be submitted up to six months before the intended date of travel.

Application Process

1. The applicant should contact the International Staff Office (ISO) at SDU via iso@sdu.dk to initiate the visa application process. To ensure sufficient processing time, the visa application should be submitted at least two months before the conference date. ISO will guide the applicant through the application process.

2. Applications must be submitted through the online ApplyVisa platform. Please refer to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denmark website for detailed guidelines and a list of visa requirements. The visa application form is an individual application and is the applicant’s responsibility to complete, submit, and pay for.

 

Important Note: While SDU provides support throughout the process, the participant is responsible for ensuring that all information is accurate and for monitoring the progress of the visa application.


The Welcome Reception will take place on Wednesday, 2nd of June at the University main entrance.
