8 June 2021
Webinar on Salt marshes in The Nordic region on June 8th, organized by the Nordic Ocean and Climate group of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

Combating global warming, climate change and preserving marine biodiversity requires intensified regional cooperation. This entails cooperation on every level, whether we work within policy, management or research. We need to work faster, more efficient, and target actions towards areas that will benefit both climate and biodiversity.  Maintaining and preserving ecosystems that serves as natural carbon sinks and support a wide range of plants and wildlife is one such area. We want to encourage and strengthen scientific research that will enable us to identify and maintain natural ocean carbon sinks in Nordic sea and coastal areas.

Speakers included Marianne Olsen, Sampsa Koponen – SYKE (NMR-project 2021), Borgþór Magnússon - Náttúrufræðistofnun, Gary Banta – University of Southern Denmark, Hege Gundersen - NIVA, Andrea De Cervo - Stockholm University, and Tanya Bryan – GRID-Arendal.
