Research is a fundamental component of the treatment and care provided at Lillebælt Hospital. It is carried out in close cooperation with our patients and their families and involves partnerships with relevant public and private organisations both in Denmark and abroad.

Research across all specialties, disciplines, and functions at Lillebælt Hospital is highly prioritised and serves as a fundamental prerequisite for enhancing patient care. There is an emphasis on the swift implementation of research findings to ensure that our patients receive the most effective treatment possible.

Profile

Lillebælt Hospital is part of  University Hospital of Southern Denmark which is strategically focused on research, innovation, and the dissemination of knowledge. Lillebælt Hospital is renowned for its strong clinical and research capabilities both nationally and internationally. It particularly excels in areas such as Oncology, Imaging Diagnostics, Back Treatment, and Shared Decision Making.

The Centre for Shared Decision Making and the Back Centre Southern Denmark are leading units attracting national and international focus. The Southern Denmark Colorectal Cancer Centre, recognised as a Centre for Clinical Excellence, sets a benchmark for other cancer specialties.

Lillebælt Hospital spans three locations in Kolding, Vejle, and Middelfart. It hosts both robust, well-established research groups and smaller, burgeoning research teams. These groups are strategically organised into clusters alongside other specialties.
