Postcard from Potsdam
At KMEB – a part of the Department of Endocrinology – our researchers often have the opportunity to attend conferences and courses abroad. Recently, three of our youngest researchers travelled to Potsdam for a PhD training course — and they sent us this postcard
Being a PhD student at Department of Endocrinology comes with many perks, but getting the chance to go abroad together and learn new methods is definitely one of the biggest. In November 2025, we — Freja Gram, Isabella Jørgensen and Julie Bjerrelund — travelled to the cozy town of Potsdam to take part in a PhD training course hosted by European Calcified Tissue Society.
We joined around 40 participants for an intensive program covering a wide range of themes in bone research: from the tiny functions of the osteoblast to advanced genetic methods in rare bone diseases. All participants presented their posters, which gave us plenty of new insights into ongoing projects across Europe — and a lot of inspiration for our own work.
The course itself made the trip worth it, but the networking dinners, small breaks in the autumn sun, and many hours on trains together added something extra. We returned home not only with new knowledge, but also with new connections to researchers across Europe.
