KMEB at the ASBMR 2025 Meeting: Awards, Presentations, and White Sneakers!

We’re proud to share that our lab was well represented at this year’s American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Annual meeting taking place in Seattle, USA. Four of our members, Morten Frost, Nina Wærling Hansen, Eva Maria Wölfel, Mathilde Palmier, attended the meeting and made their mark in multiple ways.

Nina and Mathilde were awarded  with the Young Investigator Award and the Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award, respectively. Dr. Phoebe Leboy was an ASBMR member who was dedicated to mentoring young investigators and act against inequities faced by women in science. The award named after her gives the financial possibility to attend the ASBMR meeting and to receive the mentorship of a more experienced female researcher. The ASBMR Young Investigator Award recognizes young investigators who submit top-ranking abstracts to the ASBMR Annual Meeting and gives the financial possibility to attend the ASBMR meeting.

Additionally, Eva and Mathilde presented posters at the Sunday session about their respective research projects, microRNAs and bone marrow adipocytes. Nina opened the Metabolic Bone Disease session with a presentation about insulin signaling and bone formation in type 2 diabetes. It was an excellent opportunity to showcase our lab’s contributions to advancing the understanding of skeletal health and disease.

In the spirit of community and advocacy, our team also proudly took part in the launch of the ASBMR White Sneakers Initiative, a movement aimed at promoting awareness and support for bone health.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the meeting and return home to KMEB energized by the new collaborations, ideas, and recognition. Congratulations again to our award recipients and thank you to all who helped in the lab.
