With a PhD on Osteoporosis in men, I have pursued research in the field of common and rare bone and calcium metabolic diseases as well as the integration of bone and whole-body metabolism. Current projects include clarification of the bone tissue and bone cell phenotypes in type 2 diabetes, impact of Wnt signalling on glucose homeostasis in humans, the relevance of mitochondrial function in bone cells, and the effects of incretin hormones on bone cells and tissue.

My research activities combine clinical and mechanistic methods, and I achieve my goals through collaborations with my colleagues at KMEB and beyond. I also practice endocrinology at the Department of Endocrinology, Odense University Hospital, and I supervise research and have teaching activities at the University of Southern Denmark.

I used to work at the train museum, and I dreamt of becoming an airline pilot (but colour blind). Running and hiking shoes are my preferred mode of transportation.
