HEALTHeye is a German-Danish research collaboration developing innovative digital solutions for early detection and monitoring of chronic diseases through advanced eye diagnostics. The project explores how the eye can serve as a “diagnostic window” to the human body by combining biomedical optics, 3D imaging, tear-fluid biosensing, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to create technologies that enable more accessible and continuous health monitoring, even outside clinics and hospitals. HEALTHeye brings together researchers, clinicians, and technology partners across Denmark and Germany to develop next-generation digital healthcare solutions focused on earlier diagnosis, improved patient care, and more personalised treatment pathways. The project is supported by the Interreg Deutschland-Danmark programme.

HEALTHeye ist eine dänisch-deutsche Forschungskooperation, die neue digitale Lösungen zur Früherkennung und Überwachung chronischer Erkrankungen durch fortschrittliche Augendiagnostik entwickelt. Das Projekt untersucht, wie das Auge als „diagnostisches Fenster" zum restlichen Körper fungieren kann, indem biomedizinische Optik, 3D-Bildgebung, Biosensorik der Tränenflüssigkeit und künstliche Intelligenz kombiniert werden. Ziel ist es, Technologien zu entwickeln, die eine zugänglichere Überwachung des Krankheitsverlaufs ermöglichen – auch außerhalb von Arztpraxis und Krankenhaus. HEALTHeye bringt Forschende, Kliniker:innen und Technologiepartner aus Dänemark und Deutschland zusammen, um die digitalen Gesundheitslösungen der Zukunft zu entwickeln, mit Fokus auf früherer Diagnose, besseren Behandlungsverläufen und stärker individualisierter Therapie. Das Projekt wird von Interreg Deutschland-Danmark gefördert.
