Submission of abstract

Deadline for submission of theme session proposals: October 1, 2017. Extended deadline: November 20, 2017.
Notification of acceptance for theme sessions: November 1, 2017. Extended deadline: November 29, 2017.
Deadline for abstract submission for oral presentations and posters: December 1, 2017
Notification of acceptance for oral presentations and posters: January 15, 2018

We invite abstracts within the following topics:

  • First language acquisition – typical as well as atypical development
  • Second language acquisition (bilingual, multilingual, minority-/majority language) – typical as well as atypical development
  • Foreign language acquisition – typical as well as atypical development
  • Reading and reading disabilities  



Theme sessions
The organizer of the theme session should submit their theme session proposal directly to the symposium organizers (by e-mail: nordisksymposium15@sdu.dk) in pdf format. Theme session proposals should include: session title, name and affiliation of the theme session organizer, an introduction of up to 400 words explaining the theme, a list of the authors and titles of the individual papers.  We recommend theme sessions consisting of 6 slots (20 minutes each), including both the introduction and general discussion. Papers in each theme session should be thematically linked. We encourage presenters with different affiliations within each theme session. Once the theme session has been accepted (29.11.2017), theme session authors are to submit their abstract for review (following the guidelines below).

Individual oral presentations and posters
Abstracts should include: title of the presentation, name(s), affiliation(s), and e-mail address(es) of the author(s), five keywords, and a 500 word abstract (including examples, and excluding figures and references). Download stylesheet here.

Abstracts should be submitted in one of the following languages: Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, or English. Presentations are to be held in the same language as the submitted abstract. Please indicate in the e-mail whether you are submitting an oral presentation or poster.


Oral presentations will be 20 minutes.
