Digitalization and music

PhD project (Xiaotong Tan / supervisor: Klarissa Lueg):

From Stage to Screen: An Exploratory Sequential Design of the Interaction Between Digital Communication Skills and Career Success for Musicians

This study aims to explore the impact of digitalization on musicians’ career development, focusing on how their experience, career success, and professional identity evolve in the digitalized environment. It investigates how digital communication skills influence musicians’ career and traditional skills.

Through narrative interviews with musicians from China, Denmark, and Germany, the study seeks to uncover their adaptations and challenges, particularly in applying digital skills. By examining how musicians define and achieve career success in the digital era, it also provides valuable insights for the education and career development of musicians and similar artists.
