PhD Fellow
Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Email: cthoning@bmb.sdu.dk

Christine has been a member of Søren Fisker Schmidt (SFS) research group since 2022, actively contributing to projects that characterize transcriptional changes in visceral adipose tissue during fibrosis progression in mouse models of MAFLD and delineating differences in macrophage subpopulations of adipose tissue in relation to obesity, MAFLD and diabetes.

Christine successfully completed her bachelor’s degree, and an ISA project within the group, before being recruited as a 4+4-PhD student as of September 2023.

The overarching aim of her PhD project is to provide comprehensive insights into the distinct molecular characteristics and roles of adipose tissue macrophages in relation to Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Her focus is to identify key transcriptional drivers that will contribute to a deeper understanding of the regulatory networks governing adipose tissue macrophages in the context of obesity, MAFLD and T2D.
