Kamilla became a member of the research group of Kim Ravnskjaer during her undergrad in 2017, on a project on transcriptional regulation of hepatic stellate cells (HSC) during NASH- and fibrosis development in the liver.
During her Master's Kamilla worked with stimulatory G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) signaling of HSCs. She continued this work as a PhD fellow in ATLAS from September 2021 to November 2024, having received a PhD scholarship from the Danish Diabetes Academy. During her PhD studies Kamilla examined cyclic signaling of hepatic stellate cells during activation in relation to hepatic sinusoidal tone and hepatic hypertension. She examined this both in mice- and human model systems using applications such as RNA-sequencing and histology.
