Nicolaj Ibsgaard Toft

PhD fellow
Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Nicolaj has been a member of the research group of Lars Grøntved since 2018. His work has focused on circadian dynamics of chromatin remodeling and transcriptional regulation in the liver.

Nicolaj has been employed as a PhD fellow in ATLAS from September 2020. His project focuses on hepatic tissue plasticity in the setting of diet-induced obesity and NAFLD. The aim of his project is to investigate the dynamics of chromatin remodeling and gene regulatory networks in the healthy and diseased liver using single cell/nuclei-omics, histology, and immunohistochemistry. The hope is to gain further insights in the pathology of NAFLD and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets.
