Babukrishna Maniyadath is a PhD from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research-Mumbai (India), and she performed the seminal research work leading up to identification of anticipatory molecular mechanisms via post-transcriptional and post-translational regulation, that aid in oscillatory gene expression during feed-fast cycles in mice liver. She received her PhD in January 2020 and continued as a short-term Postdoc in the same lab to study the changes in hepatic genome organization during metabolic oscillations.

She joined Mandrup group as a Postdoc on the ATLAS project, in September 2020. Her interest lies in investigating adipose tissue plasticity during obesity development and regression. In 2021, she secured the EMBO post-doctoral fellowship to specifically investigate the molecular mechanism and drivers of in-vivo adipogenesis, during high fat diet feeding in mouse and if/how these mechanisms are altered during weight loss or obesity regression. She is employing single cell transcriptomics, cytometry and primary cell culture techniques to address these questions.
