Mads Hvid Aaberg Poulsen appointed clinical professor of urology at SDU
The professorship will strengthen research into prostate cancer and contribute to the development of more precise diagnostics and targeted treatment. The aim is to bring clinical practice, research and education even closer together in Esbjerg.

Professor and genetic researcher Rikke Steensbjerre Møller has received the Epilepsy Prize 2026 from the Danish Epilepsy Association for her work in epilepsy genetics. Rikke Steensbjerre Møller is Professor and Head of Research at the IRS Epilepsy Hospital Filadelfia.

New professor aims to strengthen patient-centred liver disease research
Mette Munk Lauridsen has been appointed Professor of Internal Medicine with a specialisation in gastroenterology and hepatology at the University of Southern Denmark. Her day-to-day clinical work is based at South West Jutland Hospital in Esbjerg and Grindsted.

New clinical assistant professor to strengthen the bridge between research and practice
Medical doctor and researcher Chris Halling Dreyer has just been appointed as the first clinical assistant professor at the Department of Regional Health Research (IRS). With over ten years of experience in orthopaedic research in both Denmark and Hong Kong, he aims to strengthen the research environment close to clinical practice and help develop new treatment options – for the benefit of patients.

Three new professors to conduct research in nursing and care at Denmark’s youngest university hospital
How do we engage with families of children with life-threatening illnesses? How can we strengthen patient involvement? And can we ease transitions for those who are particularly vulnerable? These are some of the questions that three newly appointed professors of nursing will explore at Zealand University Hospital (SUH), which, with a total of five professorships at the University of Southern Denmark, is now home to one of the country’s strongest research environments for clinical nursing.
