ATLAS Director expands obesity research with a new center

ATLAS Director Susanne Mandrup receives DKK 60 million from the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Challenge Program for the establishment of a new research center – ADIPOSIGN – Center for Adipocyte Signaling. Together with ATLAS, the new center clearly demonstrates how SDU is at the forefront when it comes to research within obesity, functional genomics and metabolism

With the establishment of the new research center, Center for Adipocyte Signaling (ADIPOSIGN), the obesity research at SDU is further strengthened. The new center will investigate how fat cells change their properties during obesity, and how these changes depend on gender, genetics, and position of the fat depots. The synergy with ATLAS – Center for Functional Genomics and Tissue Plasticity, is obvious and we look very much forward to the coming 6 years.
