School energy scan with energy detective E. Wattson

E. Wattson School Tool™ is an energy toolbox, which helps high school and senior year primary school classes to investigate the energy conditions of their own school. The toolbox consis of an interactive online universe, with the Energy Detective E. Wattson, and the technology tools Classroom Climate Sensor Box and Organic Solar Cell Kit.

The E. Wattson School Tool is a result of the EU North Sea Region project 2imprezs, and the technology tools are on loan from specific energy offices in Denmark, Germany, Belgium – see here  where you can borrow the equipment. If your school is not situated near one of these offices, you can substitute the technology tools with other equipment. This is not hard, and E. Wattson will guide you, as you work with the interactive online universe.

With E. Wattson School ToolTM, the students will:
Complete exercises with focus on specific energy areas
Monitor the indoor climate of a classroom
Learn about and harvest solar energy
Produce a business model for an energy investment for the school of own choice
Become prepared to present and argue for green energy initiatives to school management and decision makers

 Getting started with E. Wattson

  1. Go to the E. Wattson onlineunivers. Students can use the tool intuitively, but it is recommended that teachers first read the Teachers Guide (top menu More).
  2. High schools in Northern Germany can book SDU Student Ambassadors to conduct the class course. In that case, simply book us via the link below.
  3. To complete the class course, teachers need equipment to measure the CO2 and temperature level in the classroom. You can borrow the E. Wattson Classroom Climate Sensor Box and the Organic Solar Cell Kit, which is specifically designed to work with the E. Wattson online universe. To borrow this equipment, contact SDU TEK Sønderborg Brobygning or your local 2imprezs partner.
