My ongoing interest is in endocrinology, and my primary research goals have been directed towards understanding the insulin-like-growth factor (IGF) system in health and disease. My Master’s degree in Molecular Medicine and my subsequent PhD was carried out at Aarhus University, where I studied specific IGF binding proteins and enzymes and investigated how they control IGF bioactivity and possesses biomarker and therapeutic potential in among others type 1 and 2 diabetes, diabetic nephropathy, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Parts of my research were conducted at Ohio University, studying adipose tissue biology in mouse models with altered growth hormone and IGF activity.

In late 2019, I joined KMEB as a postdoc. In my current and upcoming projects, I aim to advance our understanding of hormonal systems and how alterations can make the difference between remedial versus detrimental outcomes in diseases. My research is conducted in close collaboration with researchers inside and outside of SDU and OUH.

I am a travel fan, beer lover, plant enthusiast and amateur chef, constantly trying to keep my sourdough ‘Henning’ alive.
