I primarily use quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) methods to investigate the reaction mechanisms of the copper enzymes lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs). These enzymes play a key role in degrading polysaccharides, making them essential components of industrial enzyme cocktails for sustainable biofuel production, as well as key factors in crop plant and even human diseases. LPMOs employ a unique oxidative mechanism to degrade polysaccharide. My research aims to deepen our understanding of this mechanism and relevant side reactions.
