New project

We are excited to tell that we have received funding from Innovation Foundation Denmark for a new 1-year-project to investigate and test gene therapy for inhibiting heart fibrosis after myocardial infarction.

GMP specialist/QA Peer B. Horn and GMP specialist/ technician Claus Jespersen visited Don Whitley Scientific in Leeds (UK) for an introduction to their company’s version of a GMP compliant glovebox.

Welcome Maja and Eline

We welcome Maja Biehl Terkelsen and Eline Freund Søndergaard, two laboratory technician students starting their practical internship in our group. Together, they explore quality control settings regarding residual iPSCs in clinical stem cell products using flow cytometry.

Congratulations Frederik Adam Bjerre

Frederik Adam Bjerre has handed in his PhD-thesis. In a collaboration between the Andersen-group and Amplexa Genetics. In Frederik's industrial PhD he developed and provided bioinformatic analyses to facilitate development of an induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocyte cell (iPSC-vCM) product for treatment of heart failure.

Collaboration with Rigshospitalet kick-started

Adipose derived stem cells from one donor out of seven have been manufactured in OUH-CELL-BENCH. The 7 cell batches will be used in 2 trials in collaboration with Rigshospitalet for treating patients with chronic burns and patients with xerostomia.

Thank you to our advisory board for a very constructive meeting. Welcome to our new PhD student

We are happy to share that cand.scient. Sara Munk Laursen has joined the Andersen group as a Ph.D. student today. She will explore cardiomyocyte polyploidy and why mammals after birth cannot regenerate their heart following damage.

Andersen Group Scientific day at SDU

All members presented their ongoing projects followed by a Q&A session. Afterwards most participants joined a fun competition to spot as many decorated office doors at SUND as possible. We wrapped up an exciting and interesting day with a nice dinner at UBN.

Welcome to new students

We welcome 4 new students: ISA-students Barbara á Grömma Ammentorp and Frederikke Gaardsvig Willadsen and master students: Maja Hvid Jensen and Sofie Boelt Hansen. Barbara and Frederikke will investigate the presence of cardiomyocytes derived from induced pluripotent stem cells transplanted into the mouse heart following myocardial infarction. Maja will explore a new induced pluripotent stem cell line for heart repair, whereas Sofie will investigate the functional recovery of the zebrafish heart after cryoinjury.
