Analysis of microarray gene expression data

Course content

The past decade has seen a wide-spread of the microarray technology for genome-wide gene expression analysis in medical research. The use of microarray in medical science ranges from basic research to clinical applications including disease etiology, patient classification, disease diagnosis and prognosis. As a result, there has been an ever increasing demand for bio-statistical and bioinformatics analysis of the massive data produced by microarray experiments. This 4-day-course is designed to meet the booming demand from researchers, PhD students and clinicians. The compact course covers basic technique, data pre-processing, statistical analysis, prediction model building and biological pathway analysis. Students are expected to perform independent analysis on their own microarray data upon completion of the course.

Course fee

The course is free of charge for PhD students enrolled in The Institute of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark.

Students enrolled in Universities that have joined the "Open market agreement" should pay for course material, which in this case amounts to DKK 1306,-

For other participants there is a course fee of DKK 8492,-
