Background:
This PhD-course aims to introduce PhD students to present trends within qualitative methods in movement and health research and give them the ability to discuss their own projects in this perspective. The course is divided into two parts:
Day one present two perspectives and approaches on qualitative methods and includes time for discussing different methodological approaches within this perspective, including discussion and qualification of the students’ own projects.
On day one the participants will learn about within qualitative methods and the challenges and possibilities for qualitative research especially within health science. They will be guided in their own projects and be able to discuss the challenges they meet and find solutions.
Day two is a conference on present trends within qualitative methods where the PhD student present their own projects as part of the course program.
On day two the participants will learn about present trends within qualitative methods, they will meet researchers within the field, and they will be able to present their own research to a greater audience. See detailed program below.
Both PhD candidates working with qualitative methods as their primary method, and PhD candidates who work with other methods may participate.
Preparation
The students should:
- read four papers (follows)
- send a short paper to the other participants in the course where they present their work and how and why qualitative methods may be relevant for them and which possibilities and challenges, they meet
- prepare specific feed-back for two other participants
- submit an abstract to the conference
Course fee
The course is free of charge for PhD students enrolled in Universities that have joined the "Open market agreement".
For other participants there is a course fee of DKK 3801,-
