Media training

Participants: 4 researchers from the same faculty, who are selected in close collaboration with the faculty's communications staff.

Purpose: To give the researchers concrete advice for communicating their research via the press in interviews for TV, radio or articles in a way that is good for both the expert and the media. In addition, the course must give the participants an insight into the thinking of the press and then it will be clarified what opportunities SDU has to help.

Duration: 4½ hours. Eight media trainings are held a year, which alternate between the faculties.

Content: After a review of good advice for an interview and the general dialogue with the press - from the time the journalist calls to the finished product - realistic and well-prepared interview situations are practiced. They are subsequently reviewed together with feedback from both participants and teachers. There are i.a. focus on body language, the ability to express oneself in an easily understandable and at the same time convincing language and how well one is able to bring one's messages into play.

After the training, you as a participant should have gained more courage to stand up for interviews in the press and at the same time have some concrete advice and tools to express yourself in a good way for all parties.

Enrollment: There are ongoing discussions with the faculties about inviting a small group of SDU researchers who are interested in becoming better at communicating their knowledge and a research field that is suitable for media training. If you are interested, you can write to presse@sdu.dk to hear more about the next courses.
