Points of attention

  • Be explicit. Provide information about who you are and keep inside jargon to a minimum. This is particularly beneficial for external applicants when reading the advertisement

  • Think broadly. Most of SDU’s recruitment for VIP (academic staff) positions must have at least three qualified applicants. A broad call ensures a larger pool of applicants

  • Invite more applicants. Always add contact details and encourage potential applicants to get in touch if they are curious about who you are and what you are offering

  • Search actively. Post the position internationally, tip external networks and professional groups, e.g. on LinkedIn. Also consider the use of a dedicated search committee
